I appologize for the silence here at Poet's Garden Girl blog. Just in case anyone is still checking in...

Mom (Cheri) has started a new blog, Treading on Moss, full of garden photography, quotes, and decorating. Missing Poet's Garden? This is a perfect way to visit on a daily basis!

As always, my (Heidi's) blog, Mt. Hope Chronicles, is always open. Feel free to visit.

Also, we have some exciting plans for this blog, hopefully coming by the end of this month or possibly in April. I think you will enjoy what we have in store! The City of Lights

Paris, the most glamorous of backdrops for films like Funny Face, American in Paris, Amelie and French Kiss. We felt like we were in the movies!

Walking all over, from early mornings in the Boulangerie to late night wanderings down the Champs E'lysses, the windows and doorways, awnings and balconies begged to be photographed. The people of Paris seem to live simple yet elegant lives! The bird market, the flower market, and the fresh produce were part of their daily lives in a charming (almost cliche) way. Spending time enjoying the public parks and beautifully designed squares is a favorite activity for families, couples, business men, school children, and of course the little old ladies talking to the birds!

These pictures were all taken on the first two days in Paris!

When can we go back?

It was everything I imagined and so much better!

Paris, the Loire Valley, and Provence-each with their different feeling and style had so much to offer, I could have stayed forever! We had a marvelous time and in the next few weeks I'll try to post a few pictures of each region we visited. The trouble will be narrowing the shots down-we took over 2000 pictures between the two of us! Suffice to say, we are definitely trying to decide how long we have to wait before booking our return tickets!

Mom at Notre Dame in the sunset. We discovered the magic of the lighting early in the morning and at the very end of the day and when the light hit those amazing buildings we couldn't stop taking pictures!

The three graces at the Louvre. We were surprised how much we loved the museum!

Mom and I at Chateau Chenonceau in the Loire Valley. A not to be missed sight!

We are happy to be home and the evening sky last night reminded me of the magnificent beauty we have here in Oregon!

We are plunging into our preparations for the upcoming holidays, so get ready for the biggest Holiday Preview open house ever! Save the date ~ Thurs, Nov 1st, more details to come.

Must See Movies

Becoming Jane, a movie based on the life of Jane Austen, is in theaters on August 10th. Since Pride and Prejudice is on our list of all-time favorite movies, we won't be missing this one!

Miss Potter is now out on DVD! The Poet's Garden Girls had a delightful time seeing this movie at the Pix Theater in Albany (which adds to the charm of any film) during one of our girls' nights out. We were all enchanted and want to highly recommend Miss Potter to anyone who will listen. Don't miss it!
